Ella se distingu\u00eda por su indescriptible belleza y por su brillante educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El emperador Dioclesiano (284-305) quer\u00eda casar a Pelagia con su heredero adoptivo, pero ella, al tener fe en Jesucristo, dese\u00f3 dedicarle su vida, y neg\u00f3 su mano al heredero del emperador. Al bautizarse, Pelagia decidi\u00f3 iluminar con la fe de Cristo a su madre pagana. Pero aquella, respond\u00eda a ello con desprecio, y con maldad llev\u00f3 a su hija ante el novio rechazado, y se la entreg\u00f3 en sus manos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El novio sabiendo, que Pelagia no iba a renunciar a la fe de Jesucristo, y que a causa de ello la torturar\u00edan como a los dem\u00e1s cristianos, cay\u00f3 en una profunda tristeza y se suicid\u00f3. Esto enfureci\u00f3 mas todav\u00eda a la madre de Pelagia, por lo que la llev\u00f3 ante Dioclesiano para enjuiciarla. Al ver el Emperador a Pelagia qued\u00f3 prendado de tanta hermosura, y quiso casarse con ella. Pelagia le respondi\u00f3 -&#8220;yo tengo por novio a Jesucristo, por el cual estoy dispuesta a morir.&#8221; Entonces el Emperador orden\u00f3 entregar a la santa doncella para martirizarla. Despu\u00e9s de horribles tormentos, pusieron a Pelagia dentro de un toro de cobre encendido.
